Stop plastic pollution at the source. You’ve got it in you.
From the deepest oceans to the highest mountain tops, plastics are choking the life we rely on. It’s in our landscapes. It’s in our food. It’s in us.
We have the chance turn off the tap on plastic pollution. Global leaders need to agree to a Global Plastics Treaty and Greenpeace will be there to advocate for a strong agreement - but we need your help.

$15
can help reduce plastic pollution in our oceans and landscapes through public awareness and corporate pressure campaigns.
$25
can help expose the impact of plastic pollution on human life and marine biodiversity in a push for a binding Global Plastics Treaty.
$35
can kickstart targeted campaigns to publicly call out big brands like Coca-Cola and Unilever for their deadly addiction to single-use plastics.
Help stop our planet choking to death on plastic.
Plastic pollution is one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time, and one of the highest drivers of biodiversity loss on our planet. It pollutes our landscapes, chokes the life in our oceans, and harms our bodies – research has even found microplastics in our blood and organs.
Every year, corporations like Coca-Cola produce over 300 million tonnes of plastic waste. And in the Indian, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, waste is gathering into enormous garbage islands. One, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, is three times the size of France at 1.6 million square kilometres.
Currently, there’s no international law controlling the production and disposal of plastic waste – giving corporations near unchecked freedom to drown our planet in plastic. Together, we can change that.
You can stop marine life, wildlife and human life from choking to death on plastic. Donate today to join the call for a Global Plastics Treaty.
1. Great Pacific Garbage Patch
The largest garbage patch in the world, covering an estimated 1.6 million km²
2. South Pacific Garbage Patch
Contains up to 400,000 garbage particles per km² towards its centre.
3. North Atlantic Garbage Patch
Contains an estimated 200,000 pieces of garbage debris per km².
4. Sargasso Sea Garbage Patch
Our team found 1,298 fragments of microplastic in just one sample from this critical turtle nursery.
5. Indian Ocean Garbage Patch
In winter strong winds drive thousands of kilograms of debris from this patch onto surrounding beaches.
100,000 marine animals
are estimated to die every year from plastic pollution – often caused by drowning due to entanglement.
1 million seabirds
are estimated to be killed by plastic every year. The leading causes of death are ingestion and entanglement.
More plastic than fish
will be in the sea by 2050 if current global trends in production and waste continue.
5 grams
is the average amount of plastic we ingest every week, according to a study on plastics in our food chain.
Why a Global Plastics Treaty?
Recycling alone doesn’t solve the problem. We have to stop plastic pollution at the source.
We have the chance to stop plastic pollution through a Global Plastics Treaty. Greenpeace will advocate for a strong agreement - but we need your help.
With your support we are calling for a treaty that will:
- End single-use plastics
- Cut total plastic production by at least 75% by 2040
- Protect biodiversity, safeguard our climate and ensure a just transition to a reuse-based economy.
Please help us demand a Global Plastics Treaty to end the corporate addiction to single-use plastic and stop the relentless flow of plastic waste into our environment.
Stop plastic pollution from choking our planet.
Together, we can make our voices heard as we demand world leaders agree to a treaty that cuts plastic production and eliminates single-use plastic for good.
